A terrible mental sickness has developed in America over recent years. What is it? Dislike of money and it’s counterpart guilt about having money. One could go on at length about why this is such a terribly unhealthy attitude. Not only is it most the time just a form of foolish hypocrisy, it completely ignores reality and common sense.
Money is not evil. It is a medium of exchange used by two parties to obtain goods and services. If we weren’t trading with money it would be barter. Likely, the same people complaining about money now would be complaining under a barter system, as well. I guess one good thing about barter is that the Federal Reserve and the federal government cannot strip it of intrinsic value and then devalue it further through unfettered inflationary policies. But I digress.
The fact of the matter is that the very same people who cry and whine about money being evil, greedy business and fairness are the same people who are asking the government to fix their problems…with money! It isn’t that people really dislike money. The dislike that other people have it. They dislike that you have to work hard or develop a great idea to earn it.
I say that money is neither good nor evil. It is people who are good or evil. Again, money is just a resource. It is a means to obtain needed items. It is impartial. It is tool to help you survive and thrive.
So, it’s okay to like money. You should say the following to yourself just for fun. Say it out loud if you feel like it. Why not? I bet you will feel liberated. Okay?
Say…
I like money.
I like money.
I like money.
If you said that three times I bet you cracked a smile. Good. You should like money. Money is your property. Money helps you pursue those things in life you enjoy. Money helps you achieve more flexibility in life choices. It helps you achieve greater mobility. It gives you more personal power to live exactly how you choose. And you have the right to your property and to pursue happiness.
Like money. Have no guilt about liking it. Now go earn some money!
