Is this how you think about politics & government? If so, why?
Here’s an observation for everyone. Of course, this isn’t an observation that will be popular. However, if you are truly open-minded and honest with yourself, you will see how sound this observation really is.
Republicans Act Exactly Like Progressive Liberals When It Comes to Israel
No matter how you describe yourself politically, if you have been paying attention to politics at all in the past couple years you will recognize certain political moves from both the left and the right. One standard play from the Democrat playbook is the race card. The media loves it. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann both adore the race card (just type their names + the word racist into Youtube sometime). Although the race card move is completely weak and tired, it still works with some people.
Here’s how the race card works in modern Democrat / Liberal politics:
- Criticize Barack Obama and you are a racist
- Reference state’s rights and you are a racist
- Reference the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution and you are a racist
- Reference nullification and you are really a racist
- Criticize a subsidy and you are likely a racist
- Want people to show ID when voting to ensure voting only once? …you got it…racist
- Want to stop the welfare state subsidies for illegal immigrants? Mega racist.
You seeing the pattern? I could go on, but why? The Democrats are truly the party who cried racist. It’s mostly baseless and just a diversionary political tactic to get away from discussing the issue with facts and reason. It is a strategy that diminishes the debate to name calling. The idea is to make people react emotionally instead of thinking.
With me so far? Ok. Now that I have upset the Democrats and progressive liberals, it’s time to upset the Republicans and neocons.
The Republicans also have a standard move. It is the knee jerk Israel move. It goes like this:
- Criticize Israel and you are a racist or a terrorist sympathizer (or worse)
- Question a military move of Israel and you are a racist or terrorist sympathizer (or worse)
- Question why any Palestinian country, group or individual is upset with Israel, you are a racist
- Disagree with a US policy dealing with Israel…you are really a racist
You seeing the pattern here? I could go on, but why? When it comes to Israel, Republicans and neocons react exactly the same way as the Democrats. Again, this move by Republicans is precisely that…a political move. It is the same diversionary tactic that the Democrats use. It is meant to make any criticism or critical thought regarding Israel off limits.
Right. Left. Wrong.
Are you starting to see the problem with the right versus left nonsense? The entire right / left dichotomy is a giant distraction. It is a tool that politicians use deftly to manipulate people and game the system. What does it really mean anyway? Left versus right?
Isn’t it about liberty and freedom? Isn’t it about constitutionality? Well, it should be. However, when the two major political parties can make it about left versus right it does two major things:
- It diverts the issues and principles from constitutionality, freedom and liberty. It allows politicians to move away from the constitution and the principles of liberty because people are caught up in the talking points and petty battles of the left and right. This is how politicians can scoff at the constitution. This is how America invades foreign lands without congress declaring war.
- It sets the framework of politics and excludes all other political parties besides Democrat and Republican. Think about it. If people only think of politics, law and government in terms of left and right, it establishes the current unfortunate outlook of most people that all of our elected officials should come from one of these two parties. This thinking leads people to the silly words “don’t waste your vote”. This thinking allows for big government. This thinking allows for huge power grabs. This thinking of left and right almost ensures the status quo that has brought about the complete failure that is the two party system.
Hopefully this observation about identical political maneuvering of the left and the right illustrates the folly of the left / right mentality.
