A Sheep Award goes to…
Erika Bolstad
She is honored with a Sheep Award for her writing in the article -
BP’s oil spill caused by fed’s “dangerous culture of permissiveness”
Ms. Bolstad of McClatchy Newspapers is honored with this award for the following:
- Creating a creepy, sheepish, slavish term – “culture of permissiveness”
- Pulling the tired left wing move of blaming things on the Bush era…again. Bush era was indeed terrible, but stop already.
The term “culture of permissiveness” is offensive to any human being with a shred dignity and want of liberty. This phrase suggests that we, the subjects of the mighty empire, should be grateful to be lorded over by our government. It suggests that all individuals and businesses should be tightly restricted and watched over by our rulers.
Ms. Bolstad, were our overlords too permissive? Did they not restrict the freedoms of evil business to your liking?
Should individuals & businesses alike be subject to the grant or denial of permission of government in every action? Shall we await permission to engage in business? Should we await permission to eat the foods we like? Should we seek permission of government to read books?
Ms. Bolstad, it is not for free people to have their lives subject to the permission of some central planning overseers. People like Ms. Bolstad call for more and more regulation that forces business to seek permission from the almighty government in all activities. Yet in their unlimited hypocrisy or ignorance do not question the government bailouts to these same types of companies. One minute they are evil businesses. The next minute they are vital components of our economy that are too big to fail.
Here’s an idea, Ms. Bolstad. Let’s ease off the regulations and government intervention into business at every turn. Then, if a business acts negligently or causes damage to people or property it will will be subject to unlimited liability even if it means going out of business entirely. No bailouts. No handouts. No favors. No slick legislation saving them. How’s that for regulation? Freedom and responsibility. What a concept.
Then we could throw out the corporatism (tight bond between government and corporations) to which you seem so attached…and with it your creepy language.
