Who’s Better? Bush or Obama? This Great Quote Answers The Question.

150x89 Who’s Better? Bush or Obama? This Great Quote Answers The Question.

If  you follow current events, politics, government, economics or are just a casual news watcher you know how supporters of George W. Bush dislike Obama.  You also know how Obama supporters dislike George W. Bush.   It is a heated debate that is stoked by CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, Sean Hannity, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and the mainstream media everywhere.

This debate gets even more interesting (and comical) in the comments sections all over the web from political blogs to Youtube.  You get some very passionate comments from people praising Bush and Obama.  You’ll mostly find anger fueled attacks on Bush or Obama depending on the party affiliation of the commenter.   People will resort to name calling and all sorts of “productive” tactics to further the exchange of ideas and opinion.   It is a nice glimpse into the minds of significant cross section of  party-line Democrats and Republicans.

You even have President Obama and congress still resorting to the tired move of blaming every problem in existence on George Bush.   The two major parties pull this move time and again, yet neither party can figure out that both are right.  Over time, Democrat and Republican presidents have passed on an increasingly large pile of problems.

The point is that there is a battle going on.

Who is better or worse: George W. Bush or Barack H. Obama?

This quote sums it up nicely.

Unwinnable wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, enormous expansion of federal health regulations, indefinite detention, targeted killing of American citizens, bungled government responses to environmental disasters, warrantless surveillance and bailouts galore. Are we sure George W. Bush is no longer president?

- Phil Maymin – From his article Chilling Effect: Your Privacy is Worthless; Obama’s Privacy is Priceless

This quote quickly and wisely sums up this debate.  Asking which president is better or worse is just a time wasting exercise.  It’s like asking a person if it would be better to have his left or right arm amputated.   Well, both choices are going to cause great harm to that person. Both will take away personal power and freedom. Both will limit what people can do and how he or she will live.  Both will increase medical costs for that individual.  However, depending on who you are,  either your left or your right arm being amputated would be more or less harmful depending on whether you prefer to use your right or left arm.

Maybe there will be a day when people won’t be so worried about the left and right arms and instead focus on those things that can be done to avoid the harm altogether.
